We live in a time when we aren't certain which philosophical side is the most harmful. The liberals say this "ought to be" and the conservatives say "the liberals are humanist nuts." One side champions heightened governmental activity the other despises it.
Both extremes are fascist. By definition fascism is the benefit of an elite few at the cost of the many. And both extremes of the philosophical opposites are fascist.
Those who oppose government want to be free... to create jobs... overseas.
Those who embrace big government want their pet projects and socialist laws imposed on everyone... except for them.
But we need government to protect the average citizen from both while being fully accountable to the average citizen. We have more power with our votes and our numbers than the left the right or the government really wants us to realize. This is why the two extreme beat their drums loudly to influence as many people to rally to their cause as they can.
Otherwise we might start voting with common sense and for the benefit of all of the people and not just the few who try to lead us for their elite good.
USPS, like other government agencies is attached to the US Government. It is not a for profit entity (and as all who have tried to profit from door-to-door delivery have found you CANNOT make a profit doing so). Just like a private military cannot make a profit. And in both cases the citizens would be the big loser in the event of privately owned military or postal system.
The US Government keeps its thumb on the pulse of global shipping and communications by keeping USPS attached to them. They set the pricing and standards for this affordable alternative for shipping and communications.
Most have not thought or or realize just how indentured we consumers would be to the shipping and communications moguls and the cartels which would form if there is no affordable alternative to them.
We would truly be at their mercy. And as we have seen already with the American borders being removed in the business world, insatiable greed outsourced the American economy and destroyed the America workforce without batting an eyelash.
Are the likes of these people what you truly trust?
Do you not care that the economy, joblessness, homelessness, etc. will get even worse than they have been in your lifetime and mine? And certainly the legacy for our children would be bleak.
all of the peopp want their pet projects

America stands on the brink of a precipice few even realize or consider. As we watch one of the founding institutions of this great nation go through the throes of death, the United States Postal Service, almost no one is considering that it is the last barrier keeping commerce free and available to all. And once breached, the global powers that control shipping and communication will no longer have anything standing in their way to charge whatever prices they wish.
Few in the world today are self sustaining... able to raise their own crops, weave their own clothes... able to build their own homes. This means we are a consumer world, and we are at the mercy of those in control of shipping and communications for virtually everything... when there is no affordable alternative... when there is no governmental regulation of that affordable alternative. And this is what the United States Postal Service actually is. The Postal board of governors are directly accountable to the US Government.
The Post Office to most is outdated antiquated like the old milkman or diaper services that went out of business decades ago. But the US Postal Service was formed (as the US Postal Department) to maintain and keep open the avenues of commerce. And it was founded by men in the new American government who remembered well the effect of the British blockade against the revolting colonies of the crown.
Then as today the threat of denying commerce to all but the privileged few looms over us in the modern version of the blockade of ships... greed and usurious prices charged for the very engine of economies and of society: shipping and communications. As we have seen with inflation over the past fifty years, greed interests are self serving and care nothing about the well being of people or nations. They are happy to raise the price of anything while lowering the wages of the working class through devaluation of the dollar.
Fifty years ago one earning minimum wage could afford to have a house and a car. Even though the minimum wage is seven times more today that it was then, it cannot keep up with the cost of living today which is many hundreds of times more today than it was then. Because the purchasing power of the dollar in America has been diminished by inflation and greed. Which is ironic, because those with insatiable greed also have less millions or billions and must parlay their stash which devalues their stash's worth which means they must parlay their stash etc. It is a vicious cycle in which the poor lose everything.
This insatiable greed is what fueled the treasonous hubris of open borders legislation removing the protection of the American worker and American industries and businesses that operated within the law and patriotic morals. And as H. Ross Perot predicted the brunt of businesses and industries headed up by those who only care about themselves outsourced everything they possibly could to foreign nations and even slave labor nations. Gutting America's ability to provide for itself, defend itself, and taking away the majority of American's ability to work and provide for their families.
The United States Postal Service has been in the way of the communication and shipping moguls for decades. The outcry to privatize the Post Office has always been a farce, because no one can make a profit doing what USPS does. It provides a governmental service of affordable shipping and communications to every citizen (door-to-door) six days a week. Greed based shipping and communication industries only want the affordable alternative (USPS) eliminated. Then they can charge whatever they wish for communications and shipping.
What if "free" emails are suddenly charged forty six cents... per letter?
They aren't actually free in the first place when you factor in the cost of the device you email with, electricity, and ISP costs.
If all the communications companies got together and formed a cartel agreeing not to undercut each other's prices... what would you do if you had to pay forty six cents per keystroke in your emails, transfers, transactions, etc? What could you do to stop the cartels from charging these prices? What could you do if they wanted five dollars per key stroke?
The same is true about ounces or pounds of shipping and freight. If your food cost one hundred dollars a pound, what could you do about it with no affordable alternative?
Can we really afford to lose the US Postal Service? Really?
No doubt it can be improved and certain aspects about its structure need updating / streamlining... but USPS is actually as necessary as the military or the police force in protecting the people of America from greed interests who only care about themselves. Keep the mail flowing even if it takes tax dollars. The USPS is keeping the avenues of commerce open for us all as it was Constitutionally founded to do.
Footnote: the recent hijacking attempt to close Post Offices and to limit delivery to five days a week will only undercut USPS. For one thing, when there is a Holiday (typically on Mondays) that means people will go without deliveries Saturday, Sunday, and Monday.
Contact Congress and demand USPS be kept from these steps towards its demise. The citizens of America cannot afford this loss, and if we do not contact Congress, all they hear are the lobbyists of the greedy who got Congress to pass legislation like NAFTA and GATT which are responsible for the already outsourced jobs and careers and industries of America!
